If you’ve read anything else on my site to date or followed me for any length of time on social media, you’ve heard me talk about the new ventures that I’m taking on with wedding photography and why I believe them to be incredibly beneficial to brides, but I wanted to take a moment to dig a little further into the story and explain why this is such a groundbreaking idea.
There has always been one major obstacle to the bride in securing the best images of her wedding. Most wedding photographers seem to have similar skills, so the bride tends to hire the cheapest option. Brides pour over magazines and websites looking through hundreds upon hundreds of portfolios, trying to get a grasp on the looks that appeal most to them but when the bride receives the final images from her big day, they oftentimes are far below her expectations. But why?
That question uncovered what has become one of my biggest frustrations about the wedding industry; it is incredibly difficult for brides to put together a strong creative team of hair stylists, makeup artists, photographers and videographers for their wedding. As if that isn’t hard enough, they also have to figure out how to make all of these decisions within their always escalating budget, often times having to sacrifice a certain level of quality to save a couple bucks.
I hear it all the time: “I like this hair style, I like this makeup look, I like the look of this photographers images and this videographers approach…but how do I know that the people I hire will be able to collectively create the look I want?”
In many ways, brides have to roll the dice and hope everything goes smoothly, but they shouldn’t have to.
While it is not unusual for photographers to have a team of creative people that they prefer to work with, for some reason that mentality hasn’t translated to the wedding community. Over the last 7 years, I’ve worked heavily in editorial fashion. Along the way I have been incredibly blessed to work beside by some of the most highly qualified, passionate and experienced professionals in the fashion industry. Look at their clientele, awards and portfolios and you’ll instantly see that I’m not exaggerating. There had to be a way to translate that background into a benefit to brides desperately searching for a specific look in their wedding images.
Then it struck me; a simple, yet powerful solution. I needed to bring my team along on this journey and make them available to brides as an all-inclusive service, removing all of the guess work of how their images would turn out and saving them an insane amount of time and money having to shop for each of these services individually. Knowing that each member of the team is capable of delivering the highest level of quality expected in a high-end fashion editorial shoot gives the bride room to focus on her big day, trusting that all of the details are covered. Even the ones she never thought about.
I am thrilled to be able to say that my services can now extend far beyond photography to include beauticians, cosmetologists, videographers and more to bring together all of the creative wedding services in one lower-cost package. You never have to guess what you’ll walk away with. My team is perfectly paired to create magazine-quality images at a price brides can work with.
We know how important every detail is. Your wedding is a work of art. The way you remember it should be nothing less.
